Lido & Poveglia Tour | Early Afternoon
Lido & Poveglia Tour | Early Afternoon
Experience:
We cast off and leave the iconic skyline of St. Mark’s behind us, heading away from the crowded tourist routes toward the quiet waters of the Orfano Canal. The pace is slow and relaxing, allowing you to fully enjoy the gentle rhythm of the lagoon and the fresh sea breeze.
Our first stop reveals one of the most intriguing places in the Venetian lagoon: Poveglia Island. Rising from the water with its bell tower surrounded by wild vegetation, the island carries an atmosphere that is both fascinating and mysterious.
Known worldwide for its dark history, Poveglia once served as a quarantine station during the plague and later as a psychiatric hospital. While landing is not permitted for safety reasons, we will pause nearby, turning off the engine to fully immerse in the silence of the surroundings. Here, your guide will share stories and legends connected to the island, adding depth to its haunting beauty.
We then continue our journey along the inner side of the Lido, far from the busy beach resorts, until we reach Malamocco. This small village represents the most authentic side of Venice, where time seems to stand still.
Walking through its narrow streets and quiet squares, you will experience everyday Venetian life: colorful houses, laundry hanging in the sun, locals chatting, and a peaceful atmosphere untouched by mass tourism.
After enjoying the charm and tranquility of Malamocco, we return on board and begin our relaxing cruise back to Venice. The return journey is accompanied by a pleasant afternoon breeze, bringing you back to the heart of the city with plenty of time left to enjoy the Venetian evening atmosphere.
